Box 4 Loses Garage Space: Non-Profit That Serves Our First Responders Forced to Find New Space
Box 4 Special Services Canteen Association Inc. is saddened to announce that we have been notified by UMass Memorial Health, through our partners at Worcester EMS, that we must vacate our current space by February 12, 2026 due to increased fleet needs. We want to emphasize that our friends at Worcester EMS are in no way at fault. They have been exceptional partners and generous hosts, and were placed in the difficult position of conveying a decision made by their parent organization.
After the revival of our organization in 2012, Worcester EMS and UMass Memorial have been incredible hosts ever since our non-profit received our primary vehicle, Canteen 1, in 2013. They welcomed us into their Wells Street garage at no cost, a gesture that allowed our small, scrappy startup organization to not only survive but grow. Their generosity saved us critical funds and gave us a safe, reliable space from which to support the community.
Thirteen and a half years later, we now face the loss of our home base.
While Box 4 is not homeless yet, we are urgently asking for the community’s support in two ways:
First, we are seeking leads on a temporary space that can safely house our vehicle, equipment, and operations while we work toward a long-term solution.
Second, we have launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover the significant costs associated with relocating, including transporting our equipment and supplies, as well as the electrical and plumbing upgrades that will be required to make any new space operational.
